Tanking
To purposely lose a match, because of a poor mental game or other reason or lose a non-vital set to focus energy on the next set
Tennis Ball
A soft, hollow, air-filled rubber ball coated in a synthetic fur, used in the game of tennis
Tennis Bubble
An indoor tennis facility consisting of a domed structure which is supported by air pressure generated by blowers inside the structure
Tennis Elbow
A common injury in a beginner to intermediate tennis players possibly due to improper technique or a racket with excessive vibration
Tennis Hall of Fame
The Sport's Hall of Fame located in Newport, Rhode Island
Tie
Synonymous with match but used for Davis Cup
Tiebreak
This method is used to determine the winner of a set once the score in games is 6-6
Topspin
To hit th etop of the ball making it spin forwards while moving forwards, and forcing the ball to curve down over the net
Touch
Occurs when a player touches any part of the net when the ball is still in play resulting in losing the point
Tramline
Trampolining
A line defining the limit of play on the side of a singles or doubles court
The effect which occurs when striking a ball flat with a racket which is strung at a very loose tension. It results in a shot with a high velocity
Tweener
A trick shot popularised by Yannick Noah which involves hitting the ball between the legs from rear to front while retrieving an offensive lob
Twist Serve
A serve hit with a combination of slice and topspin which results in a curving trajectory and high bounce in the opposite direction
